4. In this next session I concentrated on adding detail and more colour to the background using the pastels, blending areas together and creating texture effects by using the roughness of the paper.

3. A bit further in I've begun to pick up some of the texture effects to make use of them. You can see where I have sketched hands but changed my mind, deciding to keep the composition more simple as the background is already busy enough. End of session one, time for a good spray of sealant and leave it overnight.

5. Finally, here's the finished painting. It's no Lee Bogle perhaps, but then again it's not five grand either. I've learned a lot from this painting and look forward to creating more in this style in the future.
