'One Star Awake' is a pastel painting on pastelmat card, 18.5 x 12.5 inches in size, based on a reference photograph I found on Unsplash. I used pan pastels, mainly for the underpainting and background, before going in with my soft pastels and pastel pencils to produce the detail.
The title of this piece 'One Star Awake' is a line from a Fairport Convention song which I happened to have on my play list as I was working. I can't work without music playing in my studio and believe it has an affect on the outcome. I know many of my fellow artists feel the same. This particular line stuck in my mind and felt appropriate to the dark scene I have created, with the brightly contrasting wolf grabbing the attention.
Measuring approximately 18.5 x 12.5 inches, this painting is presented in a white mount within a complimentary chunky, distressed gold frame to a total size of about 25.25 x 19.25 inches, ready to hang. It is signed on the front and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
